“Alright, I’ve been doing this for a long time. Since the video didn't mention the specific mixing ratio of oil and petroleum needed to achieve the right viscosity, here is how I do it: First, both liquids must be at room temperature so their natural density is maintained. You don't need 100% precision—just getting the viscosity close to that of diesel is enough—so use the simplest physical method: comparing flow rates. You need a setup with two small reservoirs that have controlled outlets (like a household tap) and a thin, transparent tube extending downwards from each. You release the liquids into the tubes simultaneously—diesel in one and your initial mixture in the other. Simply measure the flow rates and add petroleum to the mixture until it flows at roughly the same speed as the diesel; once the flow rates match, your mixture is close to the viscosity of diesel. There is a bit of work involved in the mixing process, so keep track of your results; over time, you’ll be able to gauge the viscosity by eye. Also—to go back to the setup—the reservoirs and tubes must be identical to ensure the flow resistance is the same and the measurement is as accurate as possible. This is the method I use, and I haven't had any problems so far; if anyone knows a better way, feel free to share it, but this approach has worked perfectly for me. Update: I forgot to mention that both chambers holding the liquids must contain the same amount of liquid to make the test even more precise.”
