“My mate used to get red diesel from his railway job he called it his bonus and ran for free for 30 year. Until he retired and when i see him i always ask him does he miss the good old days . He says yes and laughs about his bonus from work. Good luck to anyone who can beat the robbing system.”

“Old vehicles need lead added to fuel, because the seats where valves seals the combustions chamber are usually not hard enough or are machined on the head instead of pressed. Lead works as a form of lubrication (i think) so you dont destroy the seats”

“In New Zealand back in the 70's when the Arab fuel crises was in full swing a mates dad had similar model Rambler and it was drinking massive amounts of petrol. So his dad decided that a diesel engine was the way to go and diesel was almost cheap at 75 cents a gallon . A diesel small enough to fit in the Rambler was sourced and adapted to the ramblers gearbox. It didn't have much power but it would manage 50MPH,the speed limit at the time... The Engine was a Peugeot inednor out of a boat...LOL!.”
