“I’ve been vegan for around 13 years. I’m a nurse, and one day some years ago, one of my very unwell dementia patients had asked her daughter to buy a box of chocolates that she could share with me (I’d worked with her for quite a long time, and she remembered me often). She was so delighted when I walked into her room one day and she invited me to sit and have a chocolate with her and her daughter. Of course I absolutely did, the gesture meant so much to me. I never told them I was vegan. Plus, being vegan is about reducing suffering where practicably possible, and I believe sitting and having a chocolate with this lady did that. I also would’ve done the same as Romesh here, but maybe that’s just very British awkwardness 😅”
