“I was totally opposed to this match being played but the blame falls back on the European body in charge and the FAI who washed their hands of any responsibility and dumped the manager and the Irish team in a no win situation. The game went ahead and I'm so proud of how they played and how they acted(black armbands and bowed heads). They have not lost my support or respect.”

“I think Kosovo’s ranking fools a lot of people. They see 78th and wonder how this team is even in League B, completely ignoring that Kosovo only joined FIFA and UEFA in 2016 and had to start around 200th. You can only gain points by playing games, so there simply hasn’t been enough time to climb much higher. Moving up more than 120 places in just ten years says a lot. Give it another five or six years and we’ll have a much better idea of where Kosovo actually belongs. Just for comparison, in the Elo ranking, which reflects the current strength and form of teams much better, Kosovo are 39th while Ireland are 47th.”
