โ€œFunfact, Westmall currently is under renovation and upgrading. The basement had a big expansion. The library is also going to be expanded to twice the original size. Expected reopening for the library is this year March iirc. Did you know, back then, there was gossip and theories floating around, that alot of the area was undeveloped until only the past few decades (a lot of forests and jungles) because the ground in Bukit Batok and Bukit Gombak is made from very hard and solid rock, so it was very difficult to dig through. But these stories aren't exactly true. It's more likely because the area was heavily used for industrial mining and quarries up until around 1980s, then only could the area be cleared for use in town and residential planning. So it "feels" like the area is developing slower. Also, there are s lot of horror and ghost stories about Xiao Guilin and the nature park, one because it used to be a WWII battleground, and two because the man-made lakes used to be quarries, so they are VERY deep, leads to lots of drowning stories. Also also, if you look at the surface of Xiao Guilin, you can still see streaks of granite or norite on the surface, different colour.โ€
