He was told by multiple people that paper was becoming obsolete, that his job wasnt going to matter and he needed to "get with the times". He shows up for Pam because they're friends and he genuinely wants to support her. But then he sees that all of her water colors are on paper and it makes her art that much more beautiful to him. This show really had those perfect touching moments.”

In the end, he realizes how much of an asshole he is, how controlling and narcissistic he was, he chooses to leaver her alone and edits the book to say something along the lines of ‘She will live her life the way she wants’”
