“Hi Tim, Just a humble message from a Springbok supporter in South Africa to say thank you for the wonderful coverage throughout the tour and especially for your thoughts and discussions around the final game between the Springboks and the All Blacks. Rugby is what makes this rivalry so special — two proud nations, plenty of passion, but ultimately a shared love and respect for the game. Win or lose, these matches remind us why Test rugby is so unique. I’ve really enjoyed following the Eggchasers Podcast during the tour. Your honest opinions, humour and willingness to look at the game from both sides make the discussions enjoyable, even when we don’t always agree! 😂 From South Africa, thank you to you and the team for the effort you put into covering the game. It’s been a fantastic tour, and hopefully the rivalry between the Boks and All Blacks continues to give us many more memorable battles. Respect to you, Tim — and well done on a great tour. 🇿🇦🏉🇳🇿 Cheers from South Africa! Piet”

“Watching from England. That was absolutely incredible!!!! Don’t ever go to the gutters with the Boks as they will physically and mentally destroy you. They completely controlled that 2nd half. Full credit must go to Rassie and those players 🙌🏼🙌🏼”

“There’s no crisis. We got humbled. We deserved to get humbled on the back of that performance. We played as badly as we could’ve and we still created chances, we had multiple entries, dominated the scrum in the first half. Everyone in green looked rusty and had a very bad day at the office. This just really heightens the series, ups the anticipation for Cape Town and will sharpen the Bok focus. Congratulations to New Zealand, much better on the day and well deserved winners!”

“A word on Siya, what a captain. He has won the past 8 matches he captained against the AB's, (Jesse was captain at Eden Park, Siya missed Ellis Park test), crazy!”

“I’m going to write an unusually harsh comment, but tonight’s defeat was the result of mismanagement by Rassie, both before and during the game. When we played Argentina a few weeks ago, Sacha was struggling and clearly still undercooked. When Pollard came on, he unlocked the game for the Boks, and that’s how we ended up winning. Yet today he wasn’t even on the bench. To me, that’s a huge mark of disrespect, because Handre has always gotten the short end of the stick whenever a new shiny fly-half appears on the scene. It happened in 2023 too: he wasn’t even initially selected for the World Cup, only to end up being the saviour. I also don’t understand why Ox was taken off so early when he was clearly sharp and absolutely dominating. He himself looked visibly surprised when he got told to leave the field. By contrast, Wilco Louw was kept on too long. He had a heroic shift, but he was ultimately exhausted, and that’s when we stopped winning scrum penalties. But the biggest concern for me was Grant Williams, who is not a starting Test nine. He’s an average scrum-half with exceptional pace, which makes him extremely useful when opponents are tired, but not in close, tight Test matches like this one. He was also exceptionally late to almost every ruck, and that lack of urgency ultimately gifted a try. Complete disaster. Sorry for the harsh words but in my opinion there’s a bit of complacency starting to creep into some of these selections and decisions. The only positives for the Boks were Jasper Wiese, who had an all-time performance, Damian Willemse, who is the best fullback in the world, and Wilco and Ox. As for New Zealand: Roigard, Ruben Love and Will Jordan. Hats off to you, gents. 👏”

“I'm in love with Ox's handling skills. We need to celebrate just how great he's been on the ball, not just in the scrum and mauls.”

“My younger brother, while still at school, used to tell me that his training mate will definitely become a Springbok one day. Told me about his step and how he could do it from a standing position. I explained probabilities to him and the unlikelihood of his mate, making it. That mate turned out to be Cheslin Kolbe 😮”

“What happened is: 1. The SA media got humbled, which as a Bok fan, they needed. 2. Sacha FM turned into Sacha AM - completely off frequency 3. Silly mistakes, those two yellow cards - just an implosion 4. The good thing is that this is a 4 test series. Yes, the AB’s will get better, but so can the Boks. It’s just going to be a little harder. 5. The scrums…perfection in the first half. Well done to our AB brothers. In a way; this makes the week ahead that more tasty and keeps us engaged. 🇿🇦”
