My only concern is that I believe your mom's bathroom should be closer to her bedroom. I know you said she requested a powder room but for privacy I think she will appreciate a full bath closer to her bedroom. Then guests can use the powder room and not be so close to your mom's bedroom.

“Consider giving your mom her own en-suite bathroom. How often will guests need to shower compared to her? The hall bath can be the powder room. Thanks for your consideration.”

“Robbie just take the container even if it leaves a hole in the landscaping. The buyers might toss it anyways. Also a landscaping gap wouldn’t deter anyone from buying the house”

“Considering this is a forever home and your mother is living here too I would consider making all the halls and doorways handicapped accessible. Maybe a roll in shower in mom’s bathroom would be convenient. Not saying, just thinking 30 years from now.”

“Sometimes we romanticize old things. Not every old house is a jewel waiting to be polished. Your project will be making this house into a jewel it never was. Your house will be lovely with beautiful gardens surrounding it.”

“We can appreciate the mixed emotions and the sadness you and Brent are feeling. I need to remind you of your DOG STATUES that are above the greenhouse door. I noticed they are still there. I don’t know whether you have no plans to take them or if they have been hiding too successfully. I would be so sad if you left something behind that was precious. Sending love to you both from Australia ❤️”

“Robbie, Consider using those tree soaker bag rings on the birch trees. They’ll need more water the first year. They hold about 15 to 20 gallons of water that will slowly release & save you a lot of hand watering. You’ll find a spot for your fountain once you get more plants in the ground & get your “design mojo” going. Sketching your design ideas on paper will help. (I need to do the same.)”

“My heart goes out to you both!! We have dealt with squirrels and rats taking up household in our attic and walls. We finally found a company that helped us shore up all the entry points and trap the ones inside. Used a thick metal mesh which they can not chew into. We had to replace all our attic installation due to piss and sh*t. Nasty! and expensive. Now, it is a maintenance game. In fact, the company is coming by this morning for a service checkup. I pay attention to the changing seasons. They like to come into warm homes in the fall and they like to find nesting places in the spring. Once you've heard the scurrying of little feet it is embedded in your memory forever! The minute you hear it, you act on it. Stay strong!!! You will win the battle!!!”

Don’t feel like you have to rush to make big changes for us. Take your time, relax and enjoy the process and your life! Don’t put pressure on yourself!❤❤❤😊”

“My husband has a side job installing flooring on the weekends and he said those tiles look like asbestos tiles. He said the safest option is to lay your subfloor over the tiles without removing them. The dust and even the glue is highly toxic. Also, wearing a mask is a must.”

“I like your ideas. A suggestion - rather than tearing off the awkward covered porch area - make that your mom's bathroom/closet space.”

“15:26 that’s not a true wood floor that’s your subfloor. You put your wood floor, or flooring, on top of that. You have your subfloor, and then you have your flooring, two different things.”

“Robbie, have you considered taking a drone shot of the entire property? That way, you can make "rooms" with a walkway running down the middle, and have sections to complete as time goes by. Kinda like designing your property like you would a house.”

“Hey guys, ...as an architect i have seen many 'first plans' like yours😉 ...to be honest it is a nightmare and can be done so much better, avoiding many dark corners, making space for a dining aerea, reaching the washingmaschine aerea from your bathroom/closet, your Mums 'living' room is an entrance corridor, imagine you have guests and when they arrive and leave all walking through her 'living room'- poor mum... ...hoping your designer/architect is a creative one AND you will listen 😉😂”

“I'm at an age now where I'd check if the wooden boards need to be pulled up first. Then I wouldn't bother with the green tiles. But I'm old and always looking for an easy way! 😂”
