“I'm Dutch, in WW2, it was the Canadian 3rd Army that liberated us. I can walk around my home town and point to the buildings, streets and places where the Germans were entrenched and where Canadians fought and died. There are memorials, plaques and there is a Canadian military graveyard near where I live. A few years ago I met student from the US who was really offended that there was no American memorial. He said we are rude and ungrateful for not honouring American sacrifice... There were literally no Americans involved.”
