I love how the SECOND that Road Runner clocked that Coyote wasn't there, he just stops playing along with the game. It's only fun with him.
Losing the helmet gives like +20 plot armour.

Coyote is a desert dwelling animal who lives in a cave without a penny to his name. Both tried to capture the Road Runner and failed the difference, ACME gave up after one attempt, Wile E. kept trying despite hundreds of failures. If that doesn't speak to Wile's determination and perseverance I don't know what does.
Considering how CVA established Road Runner viewing Wile E as a genuine friend and his attempts to catch him just being part of a game, I’m actually inclined to believe RR clocked that this wasn’t something Wile E set up (especially since he seemed aware of how long he’d been missing) and actually realised ACME was trying to capture him.
Wile E. Coyote did this IN A CAVE! WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!!

It's strangely satisfying to watch this scene. It's like watching an irl army try to catch a cartoon character, and ending exactly as expected. No amount of training and state-of-the-art equipment can stand up to a creature who treats the laws of physics as a suggestion and can break the 4th-wall just for jokes and giggles. Ironically, despite his decades of failures, Coyote might actually be the most qualified character in the verse to even try catching that thing.
