“…oh my god. * king’s quest * space quest * police quest * the colonel’s beQUEST”
“My cat already has a mustache. This explains why he keeps coming home with motorcycles.”
“The choice to present the story like that was absolutely perfect since that's exactly what a mildly interested viewer would have done: play through it blind just making reasonably smart decisions. That said, the framing did make me expect a lot more crazy plot revelations than simply '[SPOILER] did it'!”
“The first time I went in the ocean I immediately got eaten by a shark. I assumed that was as far as i could go.”
“How did anyone find anything in this game”
“Whoever wrote that Wikipedia article (or whatever writer that writer was referencing) appears to have misunderstood the point of the Old Man Murray article. It wasn't that the cat mustache puzzle was exceptionally bad for adventure game puzzles, but rather that it was *typical* of them. Murray was not claiming this singular puzzle killed adventure games, he was saying the conventions of the genre were such that it was doomed.”
“I like how the little green son seems to genuinely love her. He gives her the key so she isn't forced to marry him, doesn't try to pressure her into staying in the castle even once the danger has passed despite obviously still being smitten, and doesn't get angry when she rejects him at the end. That bit was so hilarious btw”
“11:22 just for sake of clarity - people who can walk need wheelchairs all the time. It's for people who can't walk sustainably. Maybe it causes too much pain, or you're regaining the leg strength, any number of reasons. People might be confused in storyland, byt it's not confusing at all to see wheelchair users walk for a limited time”
“Unfortunately, since the monsters roaming the land hadn't been slain, the people of the kingdom didn't survive long after their depetrification.”
“The inside whale map is absolutely as funny as you think it is. Absolutely fantastic”
“Do you think Christopher Lloyd was like "good lord why do they hate this owl so much?" after recording those lines?”
“"I hope Roberta Williams doesn't take offense to this, but I think she's a magical forest creature who improves everything she touches" - who in the world would take offense to that”
“Dude, I love all the interview footage! It's cool hearing about the history of the run from the perspectives of the runners themselves!”
“so we really just gonna ignore how metal it is that you backflip onto the head of a skeleton to get over the gates of hell”
“I think this is one of the best "niche hobby" documentaries I've ever seen, speedrunning or not. Extraordinarily well editted, directed, and told. Amazing interviews, great job telling a cohesive story that was easy to understand as someone who has never played any KQ games, yet still made me care about each runner's achievements (both within the game and outside of it) and each of the game's milestones. Absolutely masterful work. You and the KQ6 community should feel very proud of what you've done.”
“Girl in the Tower blasting as Alexander just strolls off into the sky feels so triumphant, like the end to a film where Superman flies away after saving Metropolis.”
“Love the interviews with the runners. It's weird how few Speedrun History videos on YouTube do this, yet it adds so much.”
“great video despite my mic sounding like I was speaking from the bottom of the ocean, I'll buy a new one at some point I promise.”
“i do hope that wherever UrQuan is, that they are doing alright, its really incredible how someone can enter a community, flip it on its head, and change lives before vanishing just as quickly as they appeared”
“Wizard: "Come closer lad, I cannot hear you from such a distance" when 10ft away Also wizard: *carries on entire conversation while player is literally in another dimension*”
“I gotta say, considering the time period and the hardware involved, this is a pretty well animated game. the characters have good flow and it's pretty smooth overall, all things considered.. most games around this time didn't have it. oh and the textures for their mouths moving actually lip-sync to fit what they're pronouncing. most games had that "muppet" animating or 2 frames of textures for talking.”
“The way OneShortEye adds "talking head" interviews to his speedrun videos makes them feel perfectly, authentically like an adventure-game-speedrun video should. I feel like I want to click through these speedrunners' dialogue trees and ask what they know about voodoo. Great work as always!”
“I'm so glad FrozenSpade came back. Not even for his later achievements really, mainly just, I totally understand how much of a burnout the leaderboard split would cause. As upsetting as something like that is, it takes a lot of bravery to return and admit "Okay, sorry, it maybe wasn't such a big deal after all. I want to come back to the community regardless." And I feel his return made Spade and everyone else a lot happier too! He certainly seems like such a lovely guy, and I'm just happy that he made the decision to come back to his friends after all.”
