Question 1

Where does the data come from?

Accepted Answer

Every row comes from the official YouTube Data API. We request public comment threads on public videos and public channel details. We do not scrape pages, use private endpoints, or log in as anyone. Comment text, like counts, reply counts, publish dates, and the video and channel each comment sits under are stored as the API returns them.

Question 2

Which comments are included?

Accepted Answer

Two floors. A comment is indexed globally once it reaches 10,000 likes. Separately, for every video we read, the single most-liked comment is kept once it passes 500 likes, so a creator page can show the top comment under each video even when it never went viral site-wide. The leaderboard and the commenter boards use the 10,000 floor; creator pages show both.

Question 3

How is ranking done?

Accepted Answer

Comments rank by like count at the time they were last checked. "Hot" is a likes-and-recency blend and is a ranking preference, not a measurement of momentum. Commenters rank by the total likes on their indexed comments; the pages also show how many creators a commenter appears under and their single best comment. Subscriber counts are shown for context and never affect rank.

Question 4

What is excluded?

Accepted Answer

Three things are kept in the data but never counted on a commenter board: a creator commenting on their own video, channels we identify as alternate accounts of a creator, and brand or company accounts. Comments an owner has hidden from their claimed page are removed from the public boards too. We also do not index comments on videos that are private, unlisted, age-restricted, or made for kids.

Question 5

Not on here yet?

Accepted Answer

The index holds 86.8K comments at 10,000 or more likes (1.7K of them at 100,000 or more) from 72.6K commenters, across 3.1K creators and 164.6K videos. That is a small fraction of YouTube. Coverage grows by creator, starting from the creators most often requested and cited. A commenter who is not in the index has not been ranked low; they have not been read yet, which is why Find yourself can request a channel, usually picked up within a day.

Question 6

How do I get something removed?

Accepted Answer

Email support@commentfluencer.com with the page link. Owners can hide comments themselves from their page. We honour takedown requests from the author of a comment, and we fix misattributions (for example a creator alt flagged as a commenter) when they are reported.
